READY TO PRACTICE YOUR FRENCH? 5 PLACES YOU CAN DO IT OUTSIDE FRANCE
If you thought France was the only place you could practice your years of French lessons...you’d be wrong. Here is a list of our favorite places where you can use your French. Bon Voyage!

Switzerland
You’ll be happy to know the French spoken in Switzerland is not much different from the French spoken in France or Belgium. So go ahead and order your favorite meal with confidence. While there be sure to hit the slopes or catch a boat ride to see the fish swimming in the crystal-clear waters of La St. Léonard. The Peak Walk at Glacier 3000 is a must. It’s the only suspension bridge in the world that connects two mountain peaks. Switzerland is in the middle of Europe—just a few hours to your next ideal adventure!
Seychelles
Off the eastern coast of Africa, this island has just been named one of the top 20 wedding destinations of 2018, and British royalty confirms this. Prince William and Kate Middleton honeymooned on the beautiful island. Seychelles is home to numerous beaches, coral reefs and nature reserves and French is one of the official languages spoken there!
Morocco
Like most of Africa, Morocco is a French-speaking country. This country is known for its splendid mountain ranges, its ancient cities complete with traditional marketplaces where you can haggle in French, sweeping deserts and warm hospitality.
The Caribbean
Okay, okay so the Caribbean isn’t a country, but there were too many to list! St. Bart’s, St. Martin, Guadeloupe, Martinique, La Reunion – the list goes on and on! Can’t you just imagine the white sandy beaches, coconut in hand, listening to waves with a new French-speaking friend by your side whispering the most romantic language in the world into your ear? Le sigh!!!
The Caribbean isn’t a country, but islands like Guadeloupe, Martinique, Saint-Barthélemy and Saint Martin are all French-speaking countries in this group of 7,000 islands. Not every island offers the same attractions, but you’re sure to find some lagoon or beautiful mountain or intriguing architecture that you can revel in French about.
Canada
You don’t have to travel too far from home to be escorted to a French-speaking wonderland. Americans in the northern part of the country can take a six-hour drive north and enjoy the 400-year old French architecture of Quebec. Bring your passport and your ski boots and enjoy this lovely city that’s not too far away from home.
